Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release

SPRINGDALE, AR - The Naturals' parent club, the Kansas City Royals, announced a pair of transactions on Tuesday affecting the Northwest Arkansas Naturals' roster. Right-hander Sam Runion has been transferred to Northwest Arkansas and right-hander Nick Rogers has been transferred to the Wilmington Blue Rocks.

Runion has gone 3-1 with a 2.36 ERA for the Class-A Advanced Wilmington Blue Rocks so far this season. The Asheville, North Carolina native, has thrown 49.2 innings and fanned 39, while converting six of his seven save opportunities. He was originally drafted by the Royals in the second round of the 2007 draft.

Rogers went 0-2 with a 10.24 ERA with the Naturals in ten games. The right-hander's best performance as a Natural came on July 22 when he tossed two scoreless frames allowing just one hit against the Springfield Cardinals. Rogers was originally signed as a non-drafted free agent in June of 2011.

Runion will wear number 37 for the Naturals. Following the transactions, the Naturals' roster is at 24, one below the Texas League limit of 25 active players.

The Northwest Arkansas Naturals are the Double-A Texas League affiliate of the Kansas City Royals and play at state-of-the-art Arvest Ballpark, located in Springdale. Visit our website, nwanaturals.com, for information on season tickets and ticket plans.
