NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Arkansas Traveler right-handed pitcher Mike Piazza has been named the Texas League's Pitcher of the Week for the week-ending July 30, 2012, as it was announced by MiLB.com on Monday afternoon.

Piazza earns the honor after appearing in three games, making one start, and posting a 2-0 record with a 0.00 ERA. In his 13 2/3 innings pitched over the week, Piazza held batters to a miniscule .149 batting average (7-for-47) while collecting 12 strikeouts.

His first appearance was a six-inning relief effort on July 23rd against the Tulsa Drillers in which the Port St. Lucie, Fla. native struck out six and surrendered just three hits. Three days later, Piazza tossed a scoreless inning of relief against the Springfield Cardinals. Following the pair of relief appearances, Piazza was thrust into the starting rotation to make a spot start against the Drillers on July 29th. In the start, Piazza held the Drillers to a pair of hits over 6 2/3 innings as he extended his personal scoreless innings streak to 17 2/3 innings.

Piazza becomes the second Traveler to receive the award after former Trav, Johnny Hellweg, did so for the week-ending July 15, 2012.
