Lincoln Saltdogs News Release

LINCOLN, NE - The Lincoln Saltdogs enjoyed everything about their Saturday trip to York except the final score, losing 13-5 to Fargo-Moorhead at East Hill Park. Lincoln drops to 0-2 in exhibition play.

Tim Brown (0-1) got his first tuneup start of the preseason, allowing two runs in two innings of work. He gave up a two-out single and a two-run homer in the first inning, and issued one walk and one strikeout overall. Nolan Chestnut had the best outing of any Saltdogs pitcher, allowing no hits and a walk over his two innings while striking out three. The other Lincoln pitchers struggled in their preseason debuts: Ryan Miller gave up six runs over two innings, Ben Paxton allowed two runs in his two innings, and Chris Thompson gave up three runs in the ninth.

At the plate, the Saltdogs were much improved after managing just three hits in Friday's loss. Rafael Alvarez went 2-for-4 with a home run, while Roberto Alvarez and Tycen PoVey also had two hits apiece. Lincoln pounded out 11 hits overall, although they left 12 men on base.

The game culminated two days' worth of activities in York. Saltdogs players made an appearance at a York school on Friday, and helped conduct a youth baseball clinic in the city on Saturday afternoon. The team signed autographs for fans before the game, and an estimated crowd of 550 watched the two teams play.

The Saltdogs will play one more exhibition game this weekend, hosting the RedHawks on Sunday at Haymarket Park, with the first pitch set for 6:05. The game serves as the preseason party for season ticket holders, and all other fans may purchase any available seat for only five dollars a ticket.

Season Ten of Saltdogs Baseball begins on May 13 in Sioux Falls, with the home opener scheduled for May 25 against Wichita. For more team and ticket information, go to www.saltdogs.com.
