
Saltdogs Acquire Petrusek

LINCOLN, NE - The Lincoln Saltdogs added another arm to the pitching staff Wednesday, claiming right-hander Matt Petrusek off waivers from the Sussex SkyHawks of the Can-Am League. To make room for Petrusek on the roster, Lincoln placed left-handed pitcher Jonathan Figueroa on the disabled list, retroactive to July 12.
Petrusek had his best season as a professional on 2008, going 5-2 with a 1.79 ERA with 24 saves in 36 games for Sussex. He also pitched in four late-season games for Newark in the Atlantic League, tossing six innings without allowing a run. Petrusek's career began in 2004 in Joliet. He played two season with the JackHammers, spent 2006 in the American Association with Sioux Falls, and then returned to Joliet for the 2007 season before joining Sussex in 2008. This season, Matt had three saves for Sussex, with am 0-5 record and a 7.79 ERA.
Figueroa is 3-4 with a 3.45 ERA in 13 games for Lincoln this season, including 12 starts. He last pitched on July 11 against Sioux Falls, allowing three runs on five hits in 5.1 innings and ending up with no decision.
