Salt Lake Bees News Release

The Salt Lake Bees (37-45) dropped their third game in a row to the Sacramento River Cats (36-46) Friday night by a score of 5-3. Salt Lake failed to capitalize on scoring opportunities all night, leaving 13 runners on base and going 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position.

Matt Thaiss and Jake Palomaki both went 2-for-3 and Jose Rojas went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Janson Junk started the game for the Bees and went five innings allowing just three hits and gave up two runs on a home run in the third inning. He also struck out a season-high six batters.

The game remained a scoreless affair until Sacramento scored in the third inning on a Luis Gonzalez two-run home run. The Bees scored for the first time in the fifth inning as Kean Wong brought home Palomaki on a groundout to the right side.

The River Cats put up three runs in the sixth inning to really break things open. Salt Lake would bring one more run across in the seventh inning, but could not capitalize on opportunities in the eighth and ninth.

Game five between Salt Lake and Sacramento will take place tomorrow at 6:35 p.m.
