González, Díaz Homer, De Jesus Stifles Bees for 3rd Straight Win

Salt Lake City, Utah. - One day after a 17-10 offensive clinic, the Sacramento River Cats (36-46) utilized two two-out, two-run home runs to edge the Salt Lake Bees (37-45) with a 5-3 victory on Friday.

With two outs and one on, right fielder Luis González lined a 400-foot home run in the third inning for a 2-0 lead. Through three rehab games, González is 4-for-10 with four runs, two home runs, and four RBIs.

After Salt Lake scratched a run across in the fifth, Sacramento responded with three insurance runs.

Left fielder Willie Calhoun plated the first run when he doubled home second baseman Donovan Walton. Two batters later, third baseman Isan Díaz launched his 16th homer of the season 436 feet (105.8 MPH exit velocity) to make it 5-1.

Left-hander Enmanuel De Jesus continued his domination over the Bees this season, striking out five while allowing two hits and two walks in 4.0 shutout innings. In his three starts vs Salt Lake, De Jesus has allowed just one run on five hits and six walks while striking out 19 in 14.0 innings.

Hard-throwing righty Yunior Marte closed out the River Cats' third straight win, earning his third save with a shutout ninth.

Right-hander Sean Hjelle (4-3, 4.50) looks to make it four in a row, and clinch the series for Sacramento with a win on Saturday. He'll take on veteran righty César Valdez (5-3, 3.45) at 5:35 p.m. (PT). Listen to Johnny Doskow call the game online at rivercats.com or on the MiLB First Pitch app.

Additional Notes

- Díaz has been on fire since June 23. The 26-year-old, who is averaging a home run every 10.31 at-bats, is 19-for-51 (.373) with 12 runs, three doubles, four home runs, 14 RBIs, and a 1.117 OPS in his last 14 games.

- Right-hander Bryan Brickhouse (1-0) piggybacked De Jesus with 2.0 innings, allowing one run on two hits and two walks.
