Victoria Salmon Kings News Release
Ontario, CA - The Victoria Salmon Kings and Ontario Reign met for the second time this week on Monday evening. Victoria started Julien Ellis in net while Ontario countered with Kellen Briggs.
The Reign got on the board first when a blocked point shot bounced onto the stick of Geoff Walker who was cutting through the slot. Walker fired a shot through traffic and found the top left corner for the 1-0 lead. That would be the score through 20 minutes.
Ontario poured on the offense in the second period counting four goals. Walker would score twice more for the hat trick. Also notching goals were the Reign's Jon Rheault and P.J. Atherton. Ontario led 5-0 through 40 minutes.
Victoria would score twice in the third period when Dan Gendur and Scott Howes both tallied goals for the road team. That is as close as the Salmon Kings would come. Reign 5 Salmon Kings 2.
Victoria finished 0/3=0% on the power play, while Ontario finished 1/7=14.3%. The Reign out shot the Salmon Kings 52-32.
The Salmon Kings continue their 11-game road trip on March 4th when they travel to Idaho to take on the Steelheads in Boise. Game time is 6:10 p.m. MST.
