Dayton Bombers News Release
Dayton, OH - The Dayton Bombers have acquired forwards Matt Auffrey and Andrew Fournier from the Florida Everblades in exchange for defenseman Dominic D'Amour, head coach Bill McDonald announced today. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Auffrey ("off-ray"), a Cincinnati native, was selected in the 6th round (#172 overall) by the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He tallied 16 points (2g,14a) in 33 games with the Everblades, and an additional 4 goals and 7 assists with the Augusta Lynx. Auffrey also skated in a pair of games with the Albany River Rats, the "AAA" affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes.
The 6-foot-2-inch, 203-pound Auffrey had a 50-point rookie season with Augusta in 2007-08, picking up 25 goals and 25 helpers. He also appeared in 5 post-season games, tallying 4 points (2g,2a). Previously, he spent two seasons in the OHL between Kitchener, Brampton and Kingston and was a member of the U.S. National U-18 Team in 2002-03 and 2003-04.
Fournier ("Forn-yay") is in his first professional season and has played 27 games for Florida. He has a goal and eight assists on the year. The Amherstview, Ontario, native made his professional debut last season with the Norfolk Admirals, the "AAA" affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning, when he appeared in six games.
The 21-year-old played five seasons with the Plymouth Whalers of the OHL, accumulating 168 points (85g,83a) in 226 games. Fournier, a 5-foot-11-inch, 192-pound centerman, helped the Whalers to the 2007 OHL Championship as their captain.
"These guys are going to be big impact players now and down the road," McDonald said. "We're trying to make a run to the playoffs and they will add depth to our offense."
D'Amour appeared in 33 games for Dayton, picking up 8 goals and 14 assists for 22 points. He'd been whistled for 68 PIM.
Action returns to the Nutter Center on Wednesday, February 25, when the Elmira Jackals come to town for a 7:30 p.m. match up. It's another "Carload Wednesday", where fans can pack their cars and trucks full of friends and coworkers and everyone gets in for $30.
