Blades Trade for D-Man D'Amour

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president and general manager Craig Brush along with head coach Malcolm Cameron announced today that the team has traded forwards Matt Auffrey and Andrew Fournier to the Dayton Bombers for defenseman Dominic D'Amour.

D'Amour (prounounced: DAH-moor), who is expected to be in uniform for the Everblades' game vs. Johnstown tomorrow night, comes to the Everblades after splitting time this season between the Bombers and the Philadelphia Phantoms of the American Hockey League.

With Dayton this season the 25-year-old posted 22 points (8g, 14a) and 68 penalty minutes in 33 games. The Lasalle, Quebec native has also seen action in 10 games with the Phantoms where he recorded four PIM.

Last season D'Amour spent time in Italy with Fassa HC playing in four games, notching three points and six PIM. The former 3rd round draft pick by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2003 skated professionally with Wichita of the Central Hockey League last year where he posted 15 points (5g, 10a) and 65 PIM in 26 games.

The 6-foot-3, 221-pound blue liner began his pro career in 2004-05 splitting time between the St. John's Maple Leafs of the AHL and the Pensacola Ice Pilots. With the Leafs D'Amour notched two points and 60 PIM in 26 games, while adding 12 points (4g, 8a) and 33 PIM in 22 games with the Ice Pilots.

Now in his fifth professional season, D'Amour has spent the majority of his career in the AHL with St. John's, Toronto and Philadelphia and has notched a total of 67 points (21g, 46a) and 314 PIM in 189 career pro games.

Prior to turning pro D'Amour spent four seasons at the junior level with Rouyn-Noranda, Hull and Gatineau of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. As a junior he tallied 88 points and 657 PIM in 212 career games.

Auffrey heads to Dayton having registered 16 points (2g, 14a) in 33 games with the Everblades. He began the season with the Augusta Lynx and notched 11 points in 18 games with the Lynx before the club ceased operations in November. Fournier joins the Bombers having picked up nine points (1g, 8a) in 27 games with the Everblades.

In a separate move the Everblades saw defenseman Ryan McGinnis recalled to the Albany River Rats of the AHL today. The 21-year-old heads to Albany with 12 points (2g, 10a) and a team-leading plus-13 rating in 43 games this season. For McGinnis it's the second call-up to Albany this year where he previously skated in two games.
