Salmon Kings' Ash Goldie Named National Conference Alternate Captain

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today forward Ash Goldie has been named ECHL's National Conference All Star Team's Alternate Captain.

"We are proud of Ash for receiving this honour," Vice President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Dan Belisle said. "It speaks to his hockey talent as well as to his character and leadership abilities."

This is the first time Goldie has been named as an alternate captain for the ECHL All Star Game. He currently leads the Salmon Kings in both goals (22) and points (38) this season. Goldie leads the National Conference in goals, leads the ECHL in power play goals (9) and is tied for the lead in the ECHL for game winning goals (5).

For the week of October 29th thru November 4th, Goldie was named the ECHL's In Glas Co Player of the Week. During that span of time he collected seven goals and two assists, and helped lead the Salmon Kings to a three game sweep of the Bakersfield Condors.

This is the London, ON native's third season in the ECHL, and his second selection to the all star team. He was selected his first year in the league, but was unable to participate in the game due to injury. Previously, he spent two season's with the Long Beach Ice Dogs. In his two years in Long Beach he accumulated 111 points (61g- 50a) in 113 games.

The Salmon Kings and Condors meet again tonight at 7:05 p.m. to conclude their two-game set. The Kings then continue their five straight home games in six days on Friday evening when Fresno comes to town for three games. Call 220-7889 for tickets.
