Lincoln Saltdogs News Release
ST. PAUL, MN - The Lincoln Saltdogs dropped the final game of their roadtrip on Sunday, losing 8-2 to St. Paul at Midway Stadium. Lincoln finished with a 2-4 mark on the first trip of the season's second half.
The game opened with a very strange sequence. After Skip Adams walked to lead off the game, Omar Bramasco hit a double to deep right field. Adams stopped at second, took a step back towards first, then made his way to third base. The third-base umpire called Adams out for missing second base, even though the Saints never tried an appeal play, and Saltdogs manager Tim Johnson was ejected after he came out to argue the call. The Dogs never came closer than that to scoring against St. Paul starter Josh Regits (1-0), who tossed five scoreless innings in an emergency start.
The Saints, meanwhile, found a run in the second inning against Lincoln starter Jason Jarvis (1-5). Pichi Balet led off the frame with a triple, and scored on a sacrifice fly. St. Paul tacked on three more in the fifth, but only one of the runs was earned. Lincoln got two runs back in the seventh inning against the Saints bullpen, on RBI hits by Joe Dempsey and Corey Harrington, but St. Paul scored one in the seventh and three more in the eighth to provide the final margin.
No Lincoln batter had more than one hit, and the Saltdogs finished with just six hits overall. Mario Delgado went 0-for-4, seeing his hitting streak come to an end at 14 games.
The Saltdogs return home Monday night to open a four-game series against Sioux City. Ryan Dittfurth is scheduled to make the start for Lincoln.
The Saltdogs' next homestand begins on July 7. For team and ticket information, go to www.saltdogs.com.
