El Paso RF Stantrel Smith scored the game winning run on a throwing error by C Tommy Bryant in the 10th inning, as the Diablos slipped past the Shreveport Sports 3-2. The win for the Diablos runs their record to 3-3 in the second half. El Paso reliever Mike Cervera picked up the win. He allowed one unearned run on two hits and fanned one in two innings of work. Diablos 2B Bryon Smith had a good game at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a solo home run, his sixth of the season. Shreveport C Tommy Bryant led all hitters in the contest. He was 2-for-4 with a RBI in the losing effort.

Sioux City 3, Sioux Falls 2

The Sioux City Explorers got a solid outing from starting pitcher Tim Layden to hold off Sioux Falls and improve to 4-2 in the second half. Layden allowed one run on four hits and struck out four in six innings to run his record to 3-4 on the season. His performance overshadowed a great outing by his opponent, Canaries starter Pat Mahomes. Mahomes allowed three runs on six hits and struck out six in the complete game effort but suffered the tough-luck loss. Sioux City 2B Alex Llanos and CF Dustin Jones each homered in the win.

St. Paul 8, Lincoln 2

The St. Paul Saints knocked out 11 hits en route to an easy win at home over Lincoln. Saints DH Pichi Balet led all hitters, going 3-for-5 with a triple, a run scored and a pair of RBI. St. Paul 1B Tim Brown also drove two runs, and finished the game 2-for-3. Saints starting pitcher Josh Regits allowed just three hits while striking out three through five shutout innings to pick up his first win of the season. St. Paul closer Tony Pierce notched his 10th save by tossing a perfect eighth and ninth.

Grand Prairie 5, Pensacola 4

Grand Prairie starting pitcher Kieran Mattison did what he has for most of his starts this season, won. Mattison allowed one run on just one hit in five innings of work to improve his record 8-1, placing him behind only St. Paul's Charlie Ruud (9) for the most wins in the American Association this season. The AirHogs out-hit their opposition 10-5 in support of Mattison, led by 2B Brandon Carter who was 2-for-3 with a run scored and a pair of RBI. Grand Prairie closer James Morrison survived the ninth to record his 11th save of the year.

Wichita 3, Fort Worth 1

The Wichita Wingnuts were able to thwart a late Fort Worth rally and strand runners on second and third in the ninth inning to seal the win on the road. Wichita starting pitcher Leonard Landeros pitched well, allowing one unearned run on eight hits while striking out five in six innings, but did not factor in the decision. Instead, it was Wingnuts reliever Amad Stephens who earned the win, his first. He tossed a perfect eighth inning to set things up for reliever Kevin Cheppenko, who survived the ninth to pick up his second save. Wichita SS Kevin Hooper led the way at the plate. He was 1-for-4 with a RBI.
