Saints Explode Past Saltdogs

ST. PAUL, MN - The Lincoln Saltdogs lost their second game in a row on Wednesday, dropping a 15-4 decision to the St. Paul Saints. Lincoln falls to 19-25 on the season.

Lincoln actually carried a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the sixth, but St. Paul plated a pair of runs with two outs to retake the lead at 4-3. The Saints then exploded for five runs in the seventh and six more in the eighth to put the game well out of reach, with the final 11 runs all coming against the Saltdogs bullpen.

Before the sixth inning, the game had been a pitchers' duel between Lincoln's Brian Campbell (2-2) and St. Paul's Reed Dickert (2-2). Lincoln plated a run in the top of the first on Shawn McGill's RBI single, but the Saints tied it in the bottom of the inning on a solo homer by Jason Cooper. St. Paul took the lead with a run in the fourth, but Lincoln grabbed its final lead with two runs in the top of the sixth, on RBI singles by Pichi Balet and McGill.

McGill finished the night 2-for-4 with two RBI. Balet also went 2-for-4, and Shea McFeely chipped in an RBI double in the ninth inning. Josh Burrus stole his league-leading 21st base in the top of the sixth.

Lincoln goes for a split of the four-game series Thursday night, with the first pitched scheduled for 7:25pm. Lefty Zac Cline is scheduled to make the start for the Saltdogs.
