Chicoutimi goaltender Remi Delafontaine stole the show, and the game, Friday night with a 44-save performance in leading the Saguenéens past the Wildcats 5-2 before 2,400 fans at the Georges-Vezina Centre on Friday night.
The hometown Sags jumped out to a 3-1 first period lead despite being badly outshot. The Wildcats fired 19 shots in both the first and second periods. Moncton goals to Julius Sumpf (15th) and Gabe Smith (8th).
The Wildcats look to salvage the trip with a win on Saturday in Drummondville at 5pm Atlantic Time from the Centre Marcel Dionne. The Cats are 28-15-3-3 entering Saturday's 50th game of the regular season.
