St. Cloud Rox News Release
St. Cloud, MN - The 2017 Northwoods League Champions St. Cloud Rox returned back home to the Rock Pile to play one final game in front of the hometown crowd before the Northwoods League All-Star Break this week.
The Rox ended up falling to the Willmar Stingers 6-3 on a perfect day for baseball in St. Cloud.
St. Cloud kicked things off with a run in the bottom of the first inning, added one more run in each the sixth and seventh innings. The Rox had the game-tying run at the plate in the bottom of the ninth, but ultimately weren't able to complete the comeback in the end.
Kenny Saenz (BYU) started the game on the mound for St. Cloud and continued to pitch well for St. Cloud this summer, throwing seven stellar innings while picking up the no-decision. He gave up just two hits, two runs and struck out four.
Ryan Davis (Georgetown) led the way for the Rox at the plate, finishing 2-for-3 with a solo home run. Connor Aube (Texas at Arlington) and Gus Steiger (South Dakota State) each added one hit and one RBI, while Ricardo Sanchez (Arkansas at Pine Bluff), Ryland Kerr (Eastern Kentucky) and Sean Ross (San Diego State) each finished with one hit apiece.
St. Cloud (9-9 second half, 25-29 overall) will have the next three days off due to the Northwoods League All-Star Break and will return to action at 7:05 p.m. Thursday, July 26 at the Rock Pile. The game will feature Wrestling Legend "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, who will be at the ballpark signing autographs and taking pictures with fans throughout the game presented by Cornerstone Buffet & Restaurant.
The Rox are in their seventh season of Northwoods League Baseball in 2018. Single game and group tickets for the entire season are on sale now.
