SAN ANTONIO - Connor Sadzeck's seven two-hit innings and career-high nine strikeouts helped carry the Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, to a sweep of the San Antonio Missions with a 6-1 victory Friday night at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium.
The Riders (21-6) allowed just three hits as a team, with two occurring consecutively in the fourth inning when the Missions (9-19) tallied their lone run. For the remainder of the game, Sadzeck (4-0), Ryne Slack, and Cody Palmquist combined to hold San Antonio scoreless.
Meanwhile, the Riders' offense plated two runs in three different innings. Zach Cone opened the scoring with his fourth home run of the season, a two-run shot in the second off Luis Diaz (2-3). Garrett Weber's two-run single in the fifth extended Frisco's advantage to 4-1, and Lewis Brinson padded the lead with a two-run double in the seventh.
The win marked Frisco's eighth victory over San Antonio this season and the 11th straight win against the Missions dating back to last year. It was also the second time the Riders have swept the Missions in a four-game series this year. Frisco's other two sweeps came in three-game sets against Northwest Arkansas in April.
