Kansas City Monarchs News Release

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The American Association of Independent Professional Baseball has announced that Kansas City T-Bones outfielder Ray Sadler has been selected as the Pointstreak Player of the Week for the week ending July 24.

Sadler, 30, hit .462 with a double, three home runs and nine RBI over six games during the week. The former Pittsburgh Pirate posted four multi-hit games in that span and drove in multiple runs three times. His best performance came versus Amarillo on July 19 when he finished three-for-five with two home runs and three RBI in an 8-6 T-Bones victory.

Sadler is currently riding a seven-game hit streak and is tied for the league lead with 76 RBI. He enters Monday's game at St. Paul with a .354 average and 17 home runs through 67 games this season. Sadler is only 18 RBI from tying the franchise single-season mark of 94 set by Eddie Pearson during the 2004 campaign.

Originally drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 30th round of the 1999 amateur draft, Sadler was later traded to the Pirates for first baseman Randall Simon on August 17, 2003. He made his major league debut with Pittsburgh on May 8, 2005 at Arizona and collected his first major league hit at San Francisco three days later, connecting for a home run against left-hander Noah Lowry. He joined the T-Bones as a free agent prior to the 2010 season.

Sadler is the second T-Bones player to be selected as Pointstreak Player of the Week this season, joining Rico Washington who earned the honor during the season's opening week.

Kansas City now heads to St. Paul, MN for a three-game series against the Saints (39-28) that opens on Monday night. The T-Bones will send Trent Lare (1-2, 7.54) to the mound opposite Alberto Rolon (6-2, 4.32) and St. Paul in game one. First pitch is set for 7:05.
