Sacramento wins 5th straight with 4-2 victory over Tacoma

West Sacramento, Calif. - The Sacramento River Cats won their fifth consecutive game with a 4-2 victory against the Tacoma Rainiers in front of a crowd of 12,848 at Raley Field on Saturday night. The River Cats have now won 13 of 15 games since the start of August. With a loss by second-place Las Vegas, Sacramento is now 11.5 games ahead in the Pacific Coast League Pacific South division. The River Cats drop their magic number to six. Vincent Mazzaro earned his first victory at the Triple-A level, throwing 6.2 innings, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out seven Tacoma batters. Wes Bankston hit his 17th home run of the season in the sixth inning to break a 2-2 tie. Bankston is now hitting .375 with two home runs and 13 RBIs since returning from his most recent stint with the Oakland A's. Sacramento infielder Brooks Conrad was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. Tacoma scored its only two runs of the game in the first inning on outfielder Matt Tuiasosopo's two-run home run.
