Asheville Tourists News Release
ROME- The Asheville Tourists ran into a tough pitching duo from the Rome Braves on Tuesday night. Asheville fell to Rome 5-1 on an evening where the Tourists offense managed a total of four base-runners. Only two batters reached in the game's final eight innings and the Tourists dropped their tenth game in their last 12 contests.
Asheville jumped out to a nice start in the top of the first inning. Tommy Sacco Jr. hit a single into right field then promptly stole second. Tim Borden II walked and the two executed a double steal to put runners at second and third. Miguel Palma's Fielder's Choice scored Sacco Jr. and the Tourists took a 1-0 lead.
Rome responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first. The Braves added two more in the fifth and tacked on an insurance run in the seventh. Tyler Guilfoil went 4.2 innings on the mound for Asheville. Brayan De Paula and Ronny Garcia finished out the contest. All three pitchers did a nice job keeping Asheville close.
Sacco. Jr. delivered Asheville's only other hit in the game; a one-out double in the sixth inning. Tommy finished 2-for-4 and extended his reach base streak to 12-straight games. Borden II and Rolando Espinosa have also reached base in 12-straight. Espinosa drew a walk in the fourth inning.
The Tourists will attempt to bounce back on Wednesday night with the first pitch scheduled for 7:00pm ET.
