TULSA, OKLA. - Sounders FC 2 (6-21-7, 25 points) on Saturday earned a convincing 4-1 win at Tulsa Roughnecks FC (3-19-12, 21 points) in their season finale. Academy product Alec Diaz recorded a goal and two assists to help lead S2 to its first road victory of the season. The three-goal win margin equaled the largest of the season for Seattle, and their four goals matched the most scored in any game in 2018.
Diaz got S2 on the board first in the 21st minute on a clever feed from David Estrada inside the box. The two forwards connected again in the first minute of the second half, when Diaz found Estrada down the left side. The veteran curled a shot with his right foot that found the upper right corner of the goal for his team-leading 11th marker of the season. Diaz has now recorded two goals and two assists in his last two games, as he netted his first professional marker on Wednesday vs. Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC.
In the 63rd minute, S2 defender Khai Brisco blew by his man and sent the ball near the top of the box to Antonee Burke-Gilroy. The midfielder picked out the bottom right corner past Tulsa goalkeeper Fabian Cerda to give the visitors a 3-1 lead. Diaz's second assist of the evening to David Olsen in the 87th minute put Seattle ahead, 4-1. Diaz lofted a ball to the center of the field and Olsen deftly lobbed the goalkeeper for his first goal of the season.
S2 saw appearances from one First Team player in Calle Brown, as well as two Academy players in Brisco and Diaz.
