Fresno FC News Release

The Zorros will face Real Monarchs for the third and final time of 2018, this time at Chukchansi Park to close out the USL Regular Season. The Monarchs hold a 2-0 series lead after taking consecutive 1-0 results earlier in the season, both of which were played at Zions Bank Stadium. Despite the series, Fresno FC did defeat the 2017 USL Western Conference regular-season champions 3-2 in the preseason but have been unable to muster a result in regular season play. Now in the Golden State, the Zorros will look to move into double digits in the win column and close out the season with 42 points and just below the playoff line. The Monarchs are booked for the postseason with 57 points for fourth place and will need a victory if they wish to host a postseason match. Fresno's leading scorers Juan Pablo Caffa and Jemal Johnson, who sit both at nine, will also look to move into double-digit scoring, with Caffa also aiming to lead the team in assists, as he is tied at five with Danny Barrera and Zachary Ellis-Hayden. The Foxes are coming off a 3-0 win over Colorado Springs that saw goals from Christian Chaney, Johnson and Alex Cooper, with goalkeeper Kyle Reynish and the defense picking up their eighth clean sheet of the year. Both clubs snapped seven-match winless streaks in their last match, with Real Monarchs beating OKC Energy FC 2-1 on Wednesday.
