Rysavy, Baco Set for World Juniors in Halifax

Robert Baco and Martin Rysavy will hit the ice over the next ten days in Halifax and Moncton for the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship.

The Moose Jaw Warriors' two import forwards secured spots on their respective country's squads for this year's edition of the tournament.

Rysavy and Team Czechia will be tested in their tournament opener when they take on Team Canada on Boxing Day at 5:30 p.m. CST.

The Columbus Blue Jackets prospect took part in the 2022 World Juniors, scoring twice in seven games for Czechia, including a shorthanded marker against Canada.

Czechia went 1-1 during pre-tournament play, beating Latvia 6-3 and falling 4-2 against Switzerland.

After taking on Canada in their opener, Czechia will face Austria on Tuesday, Sweden on Thursday and Germany on Saturday.

Baco and Team Slovakia will open their tournament on Tuesday against Finland.

This is Baco's first opportunity to represent Slovakia at the World Juniors.

Slovakia finished 1-2 during their three pre-tournament games. The team dropped a 5-0 game against Germany and lost 6-1 to Canada before topping Austria 5-1 to head into the tournament on a high note.

Slovakia will also take on Team USA on Wednesday, Latvia on Friday and Switzerland on Saturday.
