Americans Head into Christmas Break with 6-5 Loss to Royals

Tri-City narrowly fell 6-5 to the Royals tonight, wrapping up a back-to-back weekend in Victoria 0-1-0-1. The Americans will head into the Winter break and return on December 27th as they take on Everett at the Toyota Center.

Tri-City opened scoring with a goal from Jake Sloan early in the first period, but fell behind quickly as the Royals netted three straight.

Jalen Luypen made his season debut with the Americans as he returned from an upper body injury suffered over the offseason. The 20-year-old Chicago Blackhawks prospects scored one of Tri-City's five goals and added an assist in his first game as an American.

Scoring was back-and-forth throughout the game, but Victoria secured their victory with two third period goals.

Sloan (2), Freer, Luypen, and Ernst recorded Tri-City's goals.

Nick Avakyan played in net, turning aside 23 of 29 shots faced.

Lukas Dragicevic had two primary assists, extending his historic point streak to 24-games, passing Brendan Shinnimin for Tri-City's all-time point streak record. The Ams were outshot 29-26.
