
Dach and Szturc to Compete at WJC

Kelowna Rockets fans will have the opportunity to cheer on a pair of Rockets at the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship this holiday season, with Colton Dach wearing the maple leaf for Hockey Canada and Gabriel Szturc competing for Czechia.
The tournament will take place in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Moncton, New Brunswick, from December 26th to January 5th.
Dach and Szturc will face each other when Canada and Czecha open their preliminary round schedule against each other on boxing day.

Dach becomes the 19th Rocket to represent Canada at the tournament
The Rockets captain joins an elite class of players to have played for Canada at the tournament.
Robb Gordon (1996), Brett McLean (1998), Chuck Kobasew (2002), Josh Gorges (2004), Shea Weber (2005), Blake Comeau (2006), Luke Schenn (2008), Tyler Myers (2009), Jamie Benn (2009), Brandon McMillan (2010), Tyson Barrie (2011), Josh Morrissey (2015), Madison Bowey (2015), Rourke Chartier (2016), Dillon Dube (2017, 2018), Cal Foote (2018), Nolan Foote (2019) Kaedan Korczak (2021).
He recorded a goal for Canada in their pretorunment game on December 21, downing Slovakia 6-1.
Szturc's second time at the tournament
Gabriel Szturc represented Czechia at the 2022 World Juniors in Edmoton this past August, finishing fourth with Czechia.
Szturc appeared in all seven games for Czechia at the tournament, averaging 16:09 minutes of ice time, while posting six penalty minutes, a goal and eight shots on net.
In Czechia's tuneup game before the tournament on December 20th, Szturc recorded two goals and an assist, including the game winner in their 6-3 win over Latvia.
