Portland Winterhawks News Release

After a week off to celebrate with family, the Winterhawks players are back in the Rose City to wrap up 2022 with a pair of home games this week - including our annual New Year's Eve game and postgame skate with the team! Join us Wednesday and Saturday as the team looks to keep its five-game win streak going!

Hot Hawks:

Forward Jack O'Brien enters the week with points in eight consecutive games (2G, 9A). The Hawks' alternate captain leads the team in assists with 25 on the year and ranks second with 32 points so far this season.

Forward Robbie Fromm-Delorme returns from break on a three-game point streak (1G, 2A) and continues to pace the Winterhawks with 13 goals, 23 assists and 36 points in 29 games this season.

Forward Gabe Klassen has recorded points in four of his last five outings (2G, 4A) and is tied for 15th in WHL scoring with 18 goals this year. Portland's captain leads the team in goalscoring and ranks third with 30 points.

Goaltenders Dante Giannuzzi and Jan Špunar have each won three straight starts to backstop the club's stout 6-0-1-0 mark since the start of December.

The Week Ahead:

Let's wrap up 2022 in style!

We're back in action on Wednesday night as the Tri-City Americans come to town. Puck drops at 7:00 P.M., and doors open at 6:00 - make sure you arrive early to pick up the third set of our Winterhawks trading cards!

Then gear up for Portland's best New Year's Eve party on Saturday as we take on the Everett Silvertips. With a special puck drop time of 5:00 P.M., fans can enjoy the game, then hit the ice after the game to skate with the Winterhawks before the clock hits midnight! And when the ball drops on the east coast, the balloons drop in the VMC to ring in 2023! Some balloons will have cash prizes inside as well.

If you are planning to come to the skate:

You are welcome to bring your own skates or rent them at the game.

Rental skates will cost $20 each. NO refunds will be issued.

If you are bringing your own skates, have them with you when you enter the building for the game. Skates must have skate guards on the blades. No re-admittance is allowed. You will not be able to return to your car to retrieve skates after the game.

IF YOU BRING SKATES, you MUST sign this waiver!

All skates will be subject to thorough security screening.

Allow extra time for security screening prior to entry.

After the game: Line up at Entry AA for access to the areas where you will purchase rental skates or change into your skates and enter the ice.
