Dayton Bombers News Release

Dayton, OH- The Dayton Bombers of the ECHL announced today that the injury forward Wes Rypien sustained in the game vs. Toledo on Wednesday night will cause him to miss the remainder of the 2005-2006 season. The Bombers also announced today that they have signed forward Dan Knapp.

Rypien had just recently returned to the Bombers line-up after coming back from a broken right finger injury. In Wednesday's game, Rypien went to layout a Toledo Storm player along the boards and instead of making contact with the player, his left knee made contact with the boards. The injury sustained to the left knee will force Wes to miss the rest of the season. His recovery time is expected to be around three months, and no surgery will be required on the knee.

The Bombers have signed forward Dan Knapp out of the Ohio State University in the NCAA. Knapp, a native of Rochester Michigan, finished his career with the Buckeyes by playing in 123 games, scoring a total of 91 points (34G, 57A)

The Bombers continue their 15th Anniversary season at home this Friday Night March 31, as the Johnstown Chiefs come to town at 7:00 PM at theEJ Nutter Center. Tickets are available at ticketmaster.com or call the Bombers office at 775-4747 for more information. The game can be heard on 980 (am) Homer the Sports Animal or on line at www.daytonbombers.com.
