Rapid City Rush News Release
RUSH STORYLINES & UPCOMING OPPONENTS:
- Last Week - Last Friday, the Rush and Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees battled to a thrilling finish at the RPCC. After skating to a 2-2 tie after 60 minutes, an overtime penalty shot save made by goaltender Danny Battochio set up defenseman Carl Hudson's game-winner with just 16 seconds remaining. The following night, five third period goals led the Rush to a 7-3 win and a weekend sweep of the Bees. Jesse Schultz (2g, 1a), Riley Weselowski (1g, 2a) and Shawn Limpright (1g, 2a) led the Rush to their eighth straight win on home ice.
- Against the Thunder - The Rush and Thunder have squared off twice this season with Wichita taking 3-2 shootout win in the first game of the season and later winning 5-3 in early November. The two teams have met a total of 26 times in the three seasons the Rush have been in existence. So far, Rapid City holds a 17-8-1 record against Wichita, including a perfect 9-0-0 in the 2009-10 championship season. However, last year, the two squads split the six-game series 3-3-0. The Rush are led by Les Reaney who boasts 28 points (12g, 16a) in 18 career games against the Thunder.
- Turning Point - The Rush are one of the hottest teams in the CHL right now, currently riding a league-high 4-game win streak. In all, the team has been victorious six of their last seven and gone 10-3-0 over their last thirteen. The Rush are outscoring the opposition 55-28 over that 13-game stretch (4.23 gpg, 2.15 gaa).
- Bouncing Back - Throughout the course of the season, the Rush have faced an uphill battle in terms of injuries. However, over the last two weeks, the squad returned a pair of players that made an immediate impact. Forward Collin Circelli had been out of the lineup since November 19th, missing a total of fifteen games before returning on December 30th. In his last three games, Circelli has amassed five points (2g, 3a) and a very impressive plus-9 rating. Winger Anthony Perdicaro missed eighteen games stretched over nearly two months, but picked up a pair of tallies last game, giving him six goals in just 13 games this season.
