The Killer Bees enter the 2012 All-Star break finishing a successful road trip earning seven of ten possible points. The Bees completed a three-game sweep of the Arizona Sundogs than earned a point in two games in Rapid City. This weekend the Bees face-off against the Texas Brahmas in three important Berry Conference games.

Tuesday @ Arizona Sundogs, 3-2 W (OT)

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz.- Nicolas Rioux scored in overtime as the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (14-12-4) defeated the Arizona Sundogs (9-16-6) by a 3-2 final on Tuesday night. The Bees win was their third in a row over Arizona. The Bees have won four of five games. Wylie Rogers made a season high 43 saves in net.

Friday at Rapid City Rush, 2-3 (OT)

RAPID CITY, S.D.- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (14-12-5) fell in overtime to the Rapid City Rush (17-12-1) on Friday night in the team's first ever visit to the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. The Bees had a few great opportunities in the extra frame but it was a Rapid City goal with 16.4 seconds that won the game.

Saturday at Rapid City Rush, 3-7 L

RAPID CITY, S.D.- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (14-13-5) closed their five-game road trip with a 7-3 loss to the Rapid City Rush (18-12-1) on Saturday night. Tomas Klempa scored twice for the Bees and Dan Gendur scored as well. Rapid City added a pair of empty net goals to help inflate the score.

BEES NEED TO KNOW

. The 2011 calendar year has come to a close. The Bees finished with a 25-31-7 during 2011 spread over the end of last season and the start of this year.

. Forward Aaron Lee was named a reserve to the 2012 CHL All-Star game. For Lee it is his first All-Star appearance.

. The Bees have not had much success ringing in the new year historically. The Bees are now 2-8-0 on games on New Year's Eve including this year's 4-2 win over Arizona.

. There are only two iron men among the Bees players this season as only Brandon Campos and Scott Balan have suited up for all 32 Bees games. Last season two players, Tomas Klempa and Rob Cowan, played in all 66 games.

. Forward Aaron Lee signed with the Bees for his fourth season. Lee has previously suited up for 221 games with the Bees and is closing in on the record of 223 held by Bill Newson. Lee is set to tie the record on Jan. 14 against Texas and break it on Jan. 15 also against Texas.

. Mark Kroeze was signed by the Bees on November 5 to serve as an emergency back-up goalie after an injury to Dan Dunn. Kroeze is a Minnesota native who is also is the first-ever McAllen City Urban Forester. Kroeze also serves on the Killer Bees off-ice officials crew.
