Rush Sign Former NHL Draft Pick Josh Beaulieu

(Rapid City, SD) - The Rapid City Rush announced today the signing of forward Josh Beaulieu for the 2010-11 season. Beaulieu was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 5th round, #152 overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

The 6'1", 180-pound Beaulieu has started this season by joining the AHL's Rockford IceHogs for training camp. Rush Head Coach Joe Ferras is currently at the skates, watching Beaulieu along with fellow Rush players Danny Battochio and Scott Kalinchuk who are also attending the AHL camp.

"Josh is a player that has a ton of experience in the American Hockey League (AHL)," said Ferras. "Were looking at Josh to bring that compete level and work ethic that has allowed him to play at the AHL level for three seasons. He is a character kid that will make players around him better."

Beaulieu has spent his entire three-year career with the Adirondack Phantoms of the AHL, the top affiliate of the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers. The Comber, Ontario native has played 136 games, collecting 12 points (6g, 6a) and 97 penalty minutes.

Prior to turning pro, Beaulieu skated with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) for four seasons. His statistical best season came in 2005-06 where in 60 games, the 23-year-old poured in 28 points (15g, 13a) and racked up 140 penalty minutes. During that season, Beaulieu played with Rush defenseman and current teammate Jamie VanderVeeken.

The Rush have 21 players under contract for the 2010-11 season. The current roster is as follows:

Forwards Brendon Hodge, Scott Wray, Blaine Jarvis, Luke Erickson, Ryan Menei, Erik Felde, Chris Chambers and Jeff Olitch, Kyle Laughlin and Josh Beaulieu.

Defenseman Riley Weselowski, Dave Grimson, Libor Ustrnul, Vladimir Hartinger, Andrew Smale, Gio Flamminio, Scott Kalinchuk, Corey Laurysen, John Wessbecker and Jay Birnie.

Goaltender Danny Battochio.
