Rapid City Rush News Release
(Rapid City, SD) - The Rush continued their hot streak with a 4-1 win to complete the sweep over the Mississippi RiverKings on Saturday night. The Rush received goals from four different skaters and Miguel Beaudry made 29 saves for his fifth win of the season. Rapid City has now won four straight games and five of its last six to leapfrog over Mississippi in the CHL's Northern Conference standings.
The Rush used the momentum from the previous night's overtime thriller to jump out to a 3-0 lead in the first. Striking first was Les Reaney at the 9:33 mark when he collected his own rebound and snuck a shot past RiverKing goalie Ray Jean. Reaney's tally snapped a nine-game goalless drought for the forward. Just one minute and six seconds later, Scott Wray stepped into a slapshot that beat Jean top-shelf for his second goal in as many games. The player-assistant's goal was assisted by Luke Erickson and Clay Plume. The Rush would then get their third goal as another play-assistant, this time Brendan Cook, sent in a rebound for the 3-0 lead. Reaney and Derek LeBlanc assisted on the goal at 16:30.
In the second, Mississippi would collect their fifth shorthanded goal of the year as Ryan Held netted his team-leading 14th of the year to make it a 3-1 game. However, just over two minutes later, Rich Hansen took advantage of an odd-man rush to give Rapid City the three goal lead once again.
The game would end with Rapid City on top 4-1 despite being outshot 30-25. Both teams had three powerplay chances with neither side able to convert.
The Rush host the Tulsa Oilers next week, December 4th and 5th with both games scheduled for 7:05pm. Tickets are still available for both games.
