WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder lost 4-2 to the Amarillo Gorillas at the Kansas Coliseum on Saturday night. Mike Kneeland roofed his fourth goal of the year at 8:53 in the first to give the Thunder a 1-0 lead. Amarillo rallied for two goals 45 seconds apart at 14:44 and 15:29 in the first to move in front 2-1.

Joe Guenther and Chris Cloud both scored on rebounds in the second, completing a run of four unanswered Gorillas' goals. Jason Deleurme cut the lead to 4-2 with a power play goal at 16:01. Amarillo added a goal from Jake Morissette at 18:59 in the third to make it 5-2.

Mike Batovanja earned his team-leading seventh fighting major of the season, dropping the gloves two seconds into the game off the opening faceoff. Wichita outshot Amarillo 36-27. The Thunder went 1 for 6 on the power play, while going 5 for 5 on the penalty kill. Jon Horrell took the loss, saving 22 of 27.

The Thunder next plays on Friday when they head back to Missouri and face the Mavericks at the Independence Events Center. Wichita returns to the Coliseum next Saturday, hosting the Colorado Eagles at 7:05 p.m. For tickets, call the Thunder office at (316) 264-GOAL.
