Rumble recalled by Lightning

Springfield, MA – The Springfield Falcons announced today that the Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled defenseman Darren Rumble from the Springfield Falcons. Rumble will join the Lightning in Tampa Bay as they prepare to host the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night.

Rumble is currently 2nd on the Falcons in scoring with four goals and 17 assists for 21 points in 25 games played. He is tied for the AHL lead in scoring among defensemen with Manchester's Joe Corvo. Rumble leads the Falcons in assists and is 2nd on the team in shots on goal with 67. He is also only one of two Falcons players to have played in all 25 games this season.

Rumble is in his 14th season of pro hockey and the 6-foot-1, 200-pound native of Barrie, Ontario started the season with three assists in his first three games played. Rumble is tied for the team lead in multi-point games this season with six. Rumble was the winner of the AHL's Eddie Shore Award (Outstanding Defenseman) during the 1996-97 season while the Philadelphia Phantoms. He was signed by the Tampa Bay Lightning on September 11, 2002 as a free agent.
