LOOKING AHEAD:
Milwaukee wraps up a seven-game road trip with a naval get-together in Norfolk tonight (7:15 ET, 6:15 CT). Wisconsin's Admirals snapped an 0-4-2-1 slide with a win in Cleveland on Saturday, while Virginia's Ads kicked off a seven-game homestand with a win and an overtime loss against Houston over the weekend. Norfolk, 0-18-7 a year ago when trailing after two periods, already has four third-period comeback victories in 2002-03.
Manchester and Hamilton finish off a home-and-home series tonight at Copps Coliseum (7:00 ET), after the Bulldogs posted a 3-1 win in New Hampshire on Sunday. Hamilton dropped the first two games of its six-game road trip, 8-0 and 1-0, before winning the last four by a combined 16-4. The Monarchs will be out to put a leash on top 'Dogs Jason Ward, Benoit Gratton and Fernando Pisani, who have 63 points among them in their last 17 games.
Four of the six AHL division leaders go head-to-head tonight, beginning at the Arena at Harbor Yard (7:05 ET) where Bridgeport puts its eight-game unbeaten streak on the line against Providence. The Sound Tigers are 5-0-3-0 in their last eight overall and 8-0-2-0 in their last 10 on home ice, while the Bruins are 1-3-1-1 in their last six on the road, including an 11-0 loss in Worcester on Saturday. Rick DiPietro has his own unbeaten streak working, as the former number one draft pick has gone 13 starts without a loss (8-0-5).
And in Houston (7:00 CT, 8:00 ET), the West-leading Aeros host Central Division-leading Grand Rapids in the teams' fifth meeting of the season. Houston owns the league's fourth-ranked offense (3.48 goals scored per game) and the best home record in the AHL (6-1-1-0, .813), while the Griffins are second in defense (2.32 gpg) and have a league-best 6-1-1-2 (.750) road mark. The teams last met back on Nov. 15, when Marc Lamothe stopped 34 shots to lead Grand Rapids to a 3-0 victory.
