YARD GOATS YANK RUBBER GAME FROM PONIES: Despite a three-run sixth inning, Binghamton could not overcome an early five-run deficit, falling 7-3 in Hartford on Wednesday morning. The Yard Goats took a commanding 5-0 advantage after five innings, eventually winning their first series against Binghamton this season. The Rumble Ponies mustered just five hits after a season-best 13 on Tuesday.

BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Joseph Shaw makes his sixth start of the season and first against Portland. The 24-year-old has already faced New Hampshire three times, including his last start on May 5. Despite allowing a season-low one earned run, Shaw lasted five innings in a no-decision. All games started by Shaw have been decided by four or fewer runs.

GOING UNDER: Wednesday's loss sent the Rumble Ponies to (14-15), their first time under .500 since April 23. At that time, Binghamton had just suffered a loss to New Hampshire, sinking to 7-8.

SAVE ME: The Rumble Ponies have played in five straight games requiring a save and nine of the last 10. Binghamton, though, is 4-6 across those 10 games and 1-4 over the last five. Tyler Bashlor leads the team with five saves.

NONE FOR YOU: No Rumble Pony collected more than one hit in Tuesday's loss to Hartford. This comes one day after a season-best 13 hits.

BIG MAC: Jeff McNeil picked up one hit in four at-bats on Wednesday, stretching his hitting streak to a season-best eight games. After a three-hit night in Akron on April 30, McNeil has garnered one hit in each of the last seven games. The infielder currently ranks 4th in Eastern League slugging percentage (.614), 4th in runs scored (22), and 5th in extra-base hits (15).

RUBBER WHAMMY: Binghamton sunk to 1-3 in rubber games after Wednesday's loss.

SEA DOGS STARTER: LHP Matthew Kent is expected to make his third start of the season in game one of Thursday's doubleheader. He pitched in relief against Binghamton on Opening Day at NYSEG Stadium back on April 5. After replacing Teddy Stankiewicz, Kent tossed a pair of scoreless innings, without allowing a hit.

SCOUTING THE SEA DOGS: Since beating Binghamton on back-to-back days (April 14 &15), Portland has won just three times. After splitting a four-game series with Hartford, the Sea Dogs lost two of three to Trenton, before being swept by the Yard Goats. Portland is currently on a five-game losing streak and have scored only six runs during the losing streak.

UP NEXT: The Rumble Ponies continue their five-game series with the Sea Dogs on Friday night. First pitch at Hadlock Field is scheduled for 6:00 PM with pitching matchups yet to be determined.
