
Squirrels Hosting Free Coaches Clinic Saturday, May 19

Funnville - The Richmond Flying Squirrels, Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, in conjunction with the American Baseball Coaches Association, the Virginia Baseball Coaches Association and the Metropolitan Junior Baseball League are proud to announce a free coaching clinic will be held on Saturday, May 19 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at The Diamond. The ACE Community Clinic provides an opportunity for coaches to learn and grow by networking with local coaches while participating in on-field demonstrations. The clinics are open to coaches at any level of the game, as well as any baseball parents or enthusiasts.
"The Squirrels have a responsibility to use our platform to help kids, period. And specifically, we have chosen to do that through baseball," said Flying Squirrels VP & COO Todd "Parney" Parnell. "By working with these wonderful organizations, we can help coaches help the kids on and off the field."
Members of the Flying Squirrels coaching staff will also be on hand to lend their expertise at the event from 12:30-1 p.m. Participants will also receive a $2 off ticket offer for the Flying Squirrels game on Saturday, May 19 by using the promo code: acecommunity. Additionally, MJBL coaches will be participating in the event.

Baseball ACE Community Clinics are an integral part of Baseball ACE, a program offered in partnership by the ABCA and USA Baseball. ACE Community Clinics, which will be held year-round at facilities nationwide, provide coaches with the opportunity to learn and grow by networking with local coaches while participating in on-field demonstrations. The clinics are open to coaches at any level of the game, as well as any baseball parents or enthusiasts.
ACE Community Clinics consist of three hours of instruction covering topics such as:
Hitting
Pitching
Fielding
Throwing
Practice planning
Drills for all levels
Keeping the game fun for all players and coaches

Baseball ACE is an educational program for any and all individuals who are currently coaching baseball or aspire to coach at any level of the game. About the MLBL
The Metropolitan Junior Baseball League, Inc. (MJBL) is a non-profit organization that was founded in Richmond, Virginia in 1966. In 1991, MJBL launched its Inner City Classic in Columbia, SC. It was designed to provide urban youth the opportunity to travel to other cities, compete in the game of baseball and to be exposed to diverse cultures. It has since grown to become a national network with teams throughout the United States and the Caribbean. MJBL is helping to bring baseball back to the inner city.

The VBCA is responsible for teaching leadership, moral values and self-discipline.
