TONIGHT: The Binghamton Rumble Ponies open up a three-game series against the Trenton Thunder tonight. It is the beginning of a six-game homestand running through Father's Day.
SPLITSIES: The Rumble Ponies and Thunder have split the first four eight games of the series the two teams have played thus far. In fact, each of the four-game series (one in Trenton, one in Binghamton) have been splits. This is the final series of the year between the two teams.
TIGHT EASTERN DIVISION RACE: The Rumble Ponies are currently in fourth place in the Eastern Division, but only trail first place Hartford by two games. They are only 1.5 games behind Trenton. The first half of the Eastern League season officially ends on June 18th.
RENNIE'S PONIES DEBUT: RHP Luc Rennie made his Double-A Debut on Sunday with the Rumble Ponies against the Yard Goats. Rennie pitched five no-hit frames, issuing only two walks and striking out nine.
FAMILIAR WITH GARCIA: Trenton sends RHP Deivi Garcia to the mound tonight. This is Garcia's second start of the year against the Ponies. His first time out on 5/25 at NYSEG Stadium...he allowed only one run on four hits over six innings. Garcia ended up with the no-decision, but the Thunder went on to win 5-2.
THOMPSON'S HOT START: Since joining the team on 5/31 David Thompson has gotten a hit in seven of the eight games he's played in a Rumble Ponies uniform. .
PONIES STARTER: LHP David Peterson makes his first start of the year against the Thunder tonight. The Ponies have ended up going to extra innings in four games Peterson has started this year, winning all four. Binghamton is 7-3 in games Peterson starts.
GETTING BACK ON TRACK: Binghamton has dropped three series in a row (vs. Portland, @ Harrisburg, @ Hartford). Prior to that stretch, the Ponies had not dropped consecutive series in a row all season.
LEE'S MONTH OFF TO A GOOD START: Outfielder Braxton Lee is hitting .316 in the month of June (6-19). Since re-joining the Ponies on May 29 from Triple-A he is hitting .296...for the year with the Ponies Lee is hitting .301 with 1 HR and 20 RBI.
COMING UP: The Rumble Ponies continue their three-game series with the Thunder Wednesday and Thursday with both games beginning at 6:35PM. Then the Ponies open up three-game set with the Altoona Curve beginning Friday night at 7:05PM.
