PONIES SQUASH SQUIRRELS IN FINALE: Binghamton collected 14 hits en route to a 6-4 win against Richmond Thursday morning at NYSEG Stadium. Despite Richmond scoring a run in the second, third, and fourth innings, Scott Copeland and the Ponies bullpen held the Squirrels scoreless until the ninth inning. The win allows the Ponies to avoid the three-game sweep.
BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Mickey Jannis makes his ninth start of the season and seventh in the Eastern League. Jannis twirled his first quality start of the season his last time out, allowing just one earned run across six innings at New Hampshire. Even so, the Rumble Ponies would lose the game on a Vladimir Guerrero Jr. walk-off home run.
WELL-ATTENDED WIN: Thursday morning's victory at NYSEG Stadium was seen by 6,311, making it the most attended game of the 2018 season. That mark nearly cracks the franchise's top 20 for single-game attendance (6,354 on 7/28/17 v NH).
TRIPLE TROUBLE: Binghamton collected three triples on Thursday, the most since July 30, 2015 when they racked up three against Richmond. The 2017 Rumble Ponies never hit more than one triple in a game. The franchise record of four was set on April 30, 2010 against Akron
BRING THE BOYS HOME: The Rumble Ponies stranded a season-high 13 in Thursday's win.
SURGE STOPPED: Binghamton stretch of consecutive games with a home run was halted at 12 on Thursday. The Rumble Ponies lead the league with 52 longballs this season, having hit 22 during the 12-game stretch. Peter Alonso and Jeff McNeil are tied atop the league lead with 12 home runs each..
ROSE-BLOOMING: RHP David Roseboom has tossed 10.0 straight scoreless innings (8 games).
LUCKY NUMER SEVEN: RHP Scott Copeland became just the second Rumble Pony this season to twirl at least seven frames. On April 19, Andrew Church tossed seven innings in a 5-2 loss at New Hampshire.
MICKEY'S MEMORIES: In his only start against Bowie in 2017 (June 20), Jannis tossed season-high eight innings, allowing just one earned run. The knuckleballer also struck out eight without allowing a walk in the Rumble Ponies 7-2 win at NYSEG Stadium.
BAYSOX BEAT: Bowie strolls into the Southern Tier on a four-game win streak after sweeping Altoona at home, outscoring the Curve 22-10.
UP NEXT: The Rumble Ponies and Baysox continue their four-game series on Saturday evening. RHP Joseph Shaw gets the ball for Binghamton against Bowie RHP Hunter Harvey. First pitch at NYSEG Stadium is slated for 6:05 PM.
