
Bats Back Tate in 11-6 Win

ERIE, PA - Dillon Tate went seven innings and the Thunder matched their season-high with 11 runs in a 11-6 win over the Erie SeaWolves on Friday night at UPMC Park.
With the win, the Thunder broke a five-game losing streak and improved to 28-19 on the season.
Zack Zehner led the Thunder offense with a 3-for-6 day at the plate. Zehner drove in five runs with a run-scoring double in the first, a bases-clearing triple in the fourth and another RBI double in the eighth inning. Abiatal Avelino, Gosuke Katoh, Francisco Diaz and Mandy Alvarez each had two hits in a 14-hit night for the Thunder offense.
Dillon Tate earned his third win of the season with seven strong innings. He retired the first eight batters he faced in the game before surrendering three runs in the third inning. Tate allowed a solo homer in the fourth inning to Jake Rogers then proceeded to retire the next ten batters he faced until a seventh inning single by AJ Simcox. Tate completed the seventh with eight strikeouts, a season-high, and the four runs allowed on five hits and one walk.
The Thunder scored in four of their first five innings at the plate on Friday night to take a commanding 9-4 lead after the fifth.
Every Thunder batter except for Jhalan Jackson recorded a hit in the game, however, Jackson walked twice. Alvarez has hits in 14-of-his-last-16 games and has raised his season batting average from .217 to .269 in that stretch.
