Danbury Hat Tricks News Release
DANBURY - The Danbury Hat Tricks exacted revenge on the Columbus River Dragons Saturday night at Danbury Arena, topping the River Dragons 6-3.
Shayne Morrissey got Danbury on the board in the first period, burying a point-blank chance off a terrific feed from Carter Shinkaruk. Anton Lennartsson would return the favor for Columbus, potting a breakaway goal late in the first period.
Danbury's top line exploded in the second period, as Jonny Ruiz netted a pair of goals while Phil Bronner converted a lethal backhand goal. Nicola Levesque registered a pair of assists on the trio of goals.
Egor Kostiukov scored a powerplay goal with seven seconds remaining in the second period to cut the deficit to 4-2. The Hat Tricks would pull away in the final frame, however, as Ruiz completed the hat trick. Danbury would skate away with a 6-3 victory.
Tom McGuckin made 37 saves in the win, including 12 unanswered shots to end the game.
