Rome, GA -The Augusta GreenJackets defeated the Rome Braves 5-3 Tuesday night in front of 2,236 fans at State Mutual Stadium. The Braves hit the road for a seven game road trip against Charleston and Kannapolis before returning home on June 9th.

The GreenJackets continued their early inning offense tonight with a solo homerun in the top of the first by Ehire Adrianza (2). Augusta would strike again in the top of the second on a two run double by Jeff Arnold making the score 3-0. The Braves would get on the board in the bottom half of the fourth when Edward Salcedo would walk and later score as Evan Gattis hit into a double play.

The Braves would score again in the fifth inning on a David Rohm triple followed by an Elmer Reyes sacrifice fly to make it a one run game 3-2. The GreenJackets added two insurance runs in the eighth and ninth thanks in part to a Josh Mazzola (4) solo homerun. Salcedo (5) would try to spark a rally in the ninth with one out driving a 1-1 pitch over the left field wall but Augusta held on for 5-3 win.

Shawn Sanford (2-4) gets the win for Augusta, while David Filak (2-4) gets the loss for Rome. Stephen Harrold gets his seventh save of the season.
