Edmonton, AB - The Victoria Royals earned a 3-2 victory over the Central Division leading Edmonton Oil Kings on Friday night as forward Brandon Cutler was named the game's first star, on his birthday, with one goal and two assists.

Notes:
Victoria Debuts: Royals' forwards Kody McDonald and Carson Miller, along with defenceman Jake Kustra played in their first game with the club tonight. McDonald and Miller were acquired yesterday in a trade with the Prince Albert Raiders for overage forward Dante Hannoun. Kustra, who returned from an injury, joined the Royals in December via a trade with the Saskatoon Blades.
First WHL Game: Victoria defenceman Noah Lamb played in his first career WHL regular season game tonight. The product of Camrose, AB was selected in the sixth round, 118th overall, by the Royals in the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft.
Milestone Men: Tonight, two Royals' players hit significant milestones. Defenceman Scott Walford played in his 200th career WHL game, while blueliner Matthew Smith competed in his 100th WHL contest.
Former Royals: Tonight's contest saw Oil Kings' goaltender Dylan Myskiw and forward Zach Russell face off against their former team. Myskiw was drafted by the Royals in the sixth round, 112th overall, in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft and played in 17 games for Victoria during the 2016-17 season. Russell was signed by the Royals in the summer of 2015, but never played a regular season game with the club.
Belarusian Connection: Royals' forward Igor Martynov and Oil Kings' forward Andrei Pavlenko both played for Dinamo-Raubichi of the Belarus2 League in the 2015-16 season. Martynov, a product of Krasnoye, registered 34 points (16g-18a) in 34 games, while Pavlenko, a native of Minsk, collected 14 points (7g-7a) in 31 contests.
