ROYALS TRIPPED UP BY REBELS Victoria falls to Red Deer 5-3; club heads south of the border this weekend.

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals were bested by the Red Deer Rebels by a score of 5-3 on Tuesday night at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre.

Notes:

Chasing History - After registering an assist in tonight's game, Royals' forward Tyler Soy is now only four points from the all-time franchise record for most career points. Currently, the record is held by former Royal and Chilliwack Bruin Brandon Magee, who totalled 264 points (113g-151a) over 318 games.

100 Goals - Victoria became the first team in the WHL to record 100 markers with their three-goal effort tonight. Leading the way in goal scoring for the Royals are Regan Nagy (17), Matthew Phillips (16) and Ryan Peckford (12).

Former Clubs - Royals' defenceman Jared Freadrich and Rebels' forward Jared Dmytriw faced off against their former clubs tonight. The two skaters were traded for one another in an off-season move that occurred prior to the start of the 2017-18 regular season. Coincidentally, Dmytriw skated in his 200th career WHL game tonight.

Remarkable Rookies - Tonight's contest featured two of the top rookies in the WHL. Royals' forward Igor Martynov (6g-7a) and Rebels' forward Kristian Reichel (8g-10a) are among the league leaders in scoring for first year skaters.

Next Game - The Royals head on a two-game road swing in Washington State as they face the Spokane Chiefs on Friday and then battle the Tri-City Americans on Saturday night. Both games are scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Victoria returns to the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre next week to face-off against the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Tuesday, November 21st.
