Kelowna Rockets News Release
The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Red Deer Rebels 5-2 on Saturday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna.
Kelowna opened the scoring 1:54 in to the first as Dillon Dube(8) capitalized on an early power play. Liam Kindree(2) collected a power play goal of his own three minutes later. Jared Dmytriw(6) responded for the Rebels before the period was out and the Rockets took a 2-1 lead in to the second period.
James Hilsendager(2) kept the Rockets power play rolling as he extended their lead by two at 8:41 of the middle frame. Braydyn Chizen(1) got in on the action just 26 seconds later. Kole Lind(11) rounded out the second period scoring and Kelowna led 5-1 after 40 minutes.
Carson Sass(1) found the Rebels some puck luck as his shot deflected off of a Kelowna defender's stick and in to bring Red Deer within three 6:39 in to the final stanza but that would be the final tally of the night as the Rockets skate to a 5-2 victory.
Kelowna enjoyed multi-point evenings from James Hilsendager(1G, 1A), Kole Lind(1G, 1A), Braydyn Chizen(1G, 1A), Liam Kindree(1G, 1A), and Leif Mattson (2A).
James Porter improves to 7-2-2-0 on the season after stopping 27 of the 29 shots he faced. Kelowna outshot Red Deer 32-29.
The Rockets power play was 3-for-6 on the evening while the penalty kill was a perfect 5-for-5.
The Rockets improve to 10-6-2-1 on the year.
Catch the Rockets in action again when they host the Edmonton Oil Kings on Tuesday, November 14th and then the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Friday, November 17th to end off their four game home stand.
