Kelowna Rockets News Release
The Kelowna Rockets are set to host the Edmonton Oil Kings at Prospera Place on Tuesday night.
Coming off of back-to-back home wins on Friday and Saturday against Vancouver and Red Deer, Assistant Coach Kris Mallette wants his team to keep building on their recent home performances.
"During our recent success at home we've found a way to win, albeit some of our games haven't been pretty, but nonetheless we've gotten timely saves or scored a big goal," Mallette said. "Our message is to compete for 60 minutes regardless and lately our team has been doing that."
Much like Red Deer, Edmonton isn't a team the Rockets face very often throughout a season. Mallette says the game plan is similar on Tuesday as it was on Saturday.
"We'll watch video of their last few games to get an idea of what their tendencies may be but our focus primarily will be about how we play," said Mallette. "We'll then put a game plan together and it becomes up to the players to execute, and when they do we're a hard team to play against."
This is the first meeting between these two teams this season. Last year these clubs met three times, with the Rockets taking the season series, posting a 3-0-0-0 record against the Oil Kings.
Kelowna enters Tuesday night with a record of 10-6-2-1, holding strong in second place in the B.C. Division with 23 points, three ahead of the Vancouver Giants, and six back of the first place Victoria Royals.
Edmonton comes in to Prospera Place on Tuesday with a record of 5-12-2-o giving them 12 points, and placing them in sixth in the Central Division, two back of the Calgary Hitmen.
Puck drop on Tuesday night is at 7:05pm.
Catch the Rockets in action again following Tuesday when they host the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Friday, November 17th to end off their four game home stand.
Tickets are available for Rockets home games through selectyourtickets.com, at the Prospera Place box office or by phone at 250-762-5050.
