Royals' Steven Hodges Named Tip Top Tailor-Made Player of the Month

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Royals are pleased to announce that forward Steven Hodges has been selected as the Tip Top Tailor-Made Player of the Month for March.

The 18-year-old forward recorded 10 points (3g-7a) to go along with 11 penalty minutes over the Royals' final 10 regular season games played this month. Hodges' performance helped his team to set new franchise records for both regular season wins (35) and points (77).

"Steven found a way to elevate his game down the final stretch of games before the playoffs," General Manager Cameron Hope said. "He has been a consistent contributor this month, and he has played an important role in the success of our club as we head into the post-season."

The Yellowknife, NWT native's 10 points in March propelled him to a career-best season with 51 points (28g-23a) in just 60 games played, good enough to place him fifth in team scoring. Last summer, Hodges was selected by the Florida Panthers with their third round pick, 84th overall. Originally drafted ninth overall by the franchise in the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft, Hodges has gone on to record 110 points (54g-56a) through 195 games of regular season play in addition to four assists in seven post-season contests.
