Royals Sign Defenseman Dan Sullivan

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has signed defenseman Dan Sullivan to an Amateur Tryout agreement. In a separate transaction, the Royals claimed forward Danick Bouchard from waivers. In other transactions, defenseman Patrik Hersley was activated from the injured reserve and recalled by the Philadelphia Phantoms of the AHL. In a separate transaction previously completed, the Royals placed forward Ryan Toomey on the 3-Day Injured Reserve.

Sullivan (5'11/188) (21), who hails from Scarborough, Ontario, played four years of college hockey at Niagara University, where he scored seven goals, assisted on twenty-three others (thirty points), and picked up 104 penalty minutes in 144 total games. Sullivan, who this season scored the game tying goal in the College Hockey America consolation game against the University of Alabama-Huntsville, was twice named to the CHA's All-Tournament team. Bouchard, who was waived by the Florida Everblades on Thursday, scored eighteen goals and picked up nineteen assists (thirty-seven points) in fifty-six games for the Everblades. He also played six AHL games with the Albany River Rats and Lake Erie Monsters.

The Royals take on the Johnstown Chiefs tonight (Friday, March 27, 2009) at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania.
