Steelheads lose to Ontario, 3-1

Boise, ID- The Idaho Steelheads (40-23-4) saw their three-game winning streak end tonight after a 3-1 loss at the hands of the Ontario Reign (37-28-5) in front of 4,136 fans at Qwest Arena.

Marty Flichel opened the scoring on a point shot during a 5-on-3 power play for the Steelheads at 17:53 of the first period. Darrell Hay assisted on Flichel's 16th of the season.

The Steelheads led 1-0 after one period of play, but Ontario accumulated three unanswered goals over the rest of the game to secure the win. Tallying goals for Ontario were Bud Holloway, Denny Johnston, and Jon Rheault.

Jeff Zatkoff stopped 34 of 35 Steelheads shots in a winning effort, improving his mark on the season to 17-14-2. Rejean Beauchemin suffered the loss for Idaho, as he stopped 25 of 28 and fell to 15-11-3.

Prior to the game, Marty Flichel was activated from the 3-day IR, and forward Kris Sparre was placed on the 3-day IR by Steelheads Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Derek Laxdal.

The Steelheads and Reign are back in action Saturday night, March 28 at Qwest Arena. The season series is tied at two wins apiece.
