Salmon Kings slip to Condors

Bakersfield, CA - In a Friday evening matchup, the Victoria Salmon Kings and Bakersfield Condors met for the second of two of meetings this week in California. Goaltender Todd Ford started in net for the Salmon Kings, while the Condors countered with Yutaka Fukufuji.

The Kings hit the board first when Brady Leavold beat Fukufuji. Victoria made it 2-0 when Matt Kelly fired home a power play marker. Bakersfield would respond when Brett Pilkington was able to tip a Tyler Michel point shot. The Condors tied it up when Danny Lapointe found a rebound of a Donny Grover point shot and lifted it over Ford. With six seconds left in the frame Andre Ianiero stole the puck behind the net and centered it to Pilkington who fired it home. Through 20 minutes the Condors held a 3-2 lead.

Wes Goldie would draw the Kings even when he received a pass from Chris St. Jacques in the slot and made no mistake. Bakersfield would respond with three goals to close the period. Tylor Michel, Mark Derlago and Bruce Graham would all count markers as the Condors went to the dressing room up 6-3 through 40 minutes.

Bakersfield would add another power play goal in the third by Mike Wirll. Condors 7 Salmon Kings 3.

Victoria finished 2/6=33.3% on the power play, while Bakersfield ended 3/3=100%. The Condors outshot the Salmon Kings 37-24.
