Royals Edge out 3-2 Win in Rubber Match with Rays

Princeton, W. Va. - The Royals took the rubber match of their series with the Rays in a 3-2 win at Hunnicutt Field Sunday.

With two outs in the bottom of the first, Nick Schnell put Princeton up 1-0 with an RBI single to left that brought home Diego Infante.

That lead didn't last too long. In the top of the second, Vinnie Pasquantino hit his second homer in as many days to knot the game at one run apiece.

The Rays didn't do much waiting either before Schnell gave them a 2-1 after with a solo blast in the bottom of the third.

After that, however, the Royals did all the scoring. Logan Porter picked up his eighth homer of the season to tie it at two in the top of the fourth. Then, in the top of the sixth, Jesus Atencio walked with the bases loaded to give Burlington its decisive 3-2 advantage.

Malcolm Van Buren earned his first win of the season for 1.1 innings of perfect relied. Angel Felipe took the loss for Princeton and now has a 2-3 record.

The Royals return to Burlington on Monday to start a three-game series with the Elizabethton Twins. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
