
Royals Dropped by Blazers

Kamloops, BC - The Victoria Royals allowed two goals, 92 seconds apart, in the second period as they fell 4-1 to the Kamloops Blazers on Friday afternoon.
With the score tied at 1-1 with seven minutes remaining in the middle frame, the Blazers' Jermaine Loewen and Ryan Rehill tallied in quick succession. Collin Shirley scored for Kamloops in the opening period, while Matt Revel added an empty net goal in the final stanza. The Royals' lone marker was scored by Jack Walker when he buried a cross-crease pass from Tyler Soy.
Royals' netminder Coleman Vollrath started the contest and made 38 saves on the 41 shots he faced. The Blazers opted for goaltender Connor Ingram who stopped 29 of the 30 pucks directed his way.
Victoria was unable to score on the man-advantage and went 0/2=0.0%, while Kamloops capitalized on the powerplay to earn a 1/3=33.3% mark.
The Royals will now head to Kelowna to face the Rockets tomorrow with puck drop scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
Victoria returns home for a pair of games against the Tri-City Americans on Tuesday, January 5th and Wednesday, January 6th.
